The Navy Command Headquarters press release

Time: 18:17pm, August 6th, 2018

The Navy Command Headquarters responds today (6th) with regard to the media coverage of “ ‘New Navy Set to Sail’ written from right to left?” that the writing direction of the phrase “New Navy Set to Sail” was decided to be consistent with the navy’s “Everlasting Sea Frontiers” stone plaque, which read from right to left. The phrase on the stone plaque was named by the chief of Nay Command Headquarters Admiral Song, Chang-Chi in 1975 as a expectation on all navy staff to never forget sea power is the lifeline of the nation. This is why, in order to be consistent with the writing direction, the phrase “New Navy Set to Sail” is also from right to left, in order to express the concept of “carry on the past heritage and open up for the future”, achieve visual consistency and take into consideration of overall aesthetics.

In a further note, the Navy Command Headquarters points out that the unveiling of the memorial plaque ceremony today marks the ROC Navy crossing into the new era. The Command Headquarters seeks all citizens’ support and will strive to ensure the success of homemade submarine policy to attain goals of protecting our sea frontiers.
